Anne Parrish. Harper.
A discerning character study of the beautiful and talented young authoress, Christabel Caine, whose every action is prompted by her love of adulation and selfishness. The story is cleverly told almost entirely from her own point of view and that of her admirers, who are “all kneeling.” It is very entertaining in spite of the unhappiness caused by Christabel’s complete selfishness which affects all of those with whom she comes in contact. Miss Parrish’s keen observation of our unremarked humorous actions and her original, descriptive choice of words are, perhaps, the best traits of the book.
