One time I said I flew.
My parents feared,
As though they knew
Already I was queer.
And once I said my ears
Were big — like Pan’s.
My parents’ fears
Were multiplied by two.
And now — because it only
Makes them sad,
I never say these things aloud —
So now, of course, they think I’m mad
